Who Is Your Employee? Independent Contractor Classification for IT Staffing Firms

July 30, 2021

For some time now, classifying workers as independent contractors has been under attack by many states. While the prior administration looked to ease the burden of employers proving valid independent contractor relationships at the federal level, the new administration appears to be more in line with states that have followed the more stringent ABC Test (most prominently, California).

Due to the high demand and low supply of high-level IT professionals, consultants have a lot of leverage in dictating how they prefer to be classified (W-2 vs. independent contractor). In this webinar, we will touch on some of the many different independent contractor classification tests employers face both at the federal and state levels, provide insight on how to navigate these tests, and potential ramifications for violations.
